In an outstanding display of skill and teamwork, the Weatherly Greenpower team, The Green Goblins, proudly secured 5th place at The Goblin Cup on Saturday, March 29th at Grissom High School. Racing with their car #172, the team not only finished strong but also emerged as the highest placing school among participants from Huntsville City Schools.

The Goblin Cup is the local event in the Greenpower USA program, which encourages students to engage with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through the hands-on experience of designing, building, and racing electric cars. This initiative aims to ignite students’ interest in engineering and sustainability while promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

In addition to their impressive finish with car #172, The Green Goblins also competed with their second vehicle, car #72, which completed the race in 36th place. Despite the challenges faced during the competition, the team's spirit and determination shone through, highlighting their commitment to excellence.

"I am incredibly proud of our team's achievements," said their enthusiastic coach Mrs. Griffith. "The team worked tirelessly to build and refine the cars, and to place 5th in such a competitive field is a remarkable accomplishment. Being the top school from Huntsville City Schools makes it even more special."

The Green Goblins' success reflects not only the hard work of the students but also the support of their families and the Weatherly Heights Elementary community. Their achievement at The Goblin Cup serves as an inspiration to their peers and highlights the importance of collaboration and innovation in education.

Greenpower USA continues to foster a passion for engineering and sustainability among young minds across the nation. Events like The Goblin Cup provide students with a platform to apply their knowledge in real-world situations, reinforcing the significance of teamwork and environmental awareness.

Congratulations to The Green Goblins on their remarkable performance at The Goblin Cup! With their dedication and determination, the future looks bright for these aspiring engineers as they continue to excel in the world of Greenpower USA.

Special thank you goes to the WHES PTA for their generous donation of the generation 2 Goblin Car.
