Huntsville City Schools is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Walker McGinnis, who dedicated more than 40 years of his life to serving the students, families, and staff of our district.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. McGinnis held several pivotal roles that left an impact on the lives of many. He served as principal of Chapman Middle School and as assistant principal at both Grissom High School and Whitesburg Middle School.
In addition to his contributions as an educator, Mr. McGinnis continued his service to the district as a school board member representing District 4 from 2014 to 2021.
"Mr. McGinnis led with integrity and served as a steadfast advocate for our students, staff members, and community," said Dr. Clarence Sutton, HCS Superintendent. "His legacy is one of service and an unwavering commitment to educational excellence."
