Students received free meals across the district this school year due to pandemic waivers from the federal government. Those waivers are expected to expire this summer, which means that school meals will return to pre-pandemic pricing next school year for students who do not qualify for free and reduced meals or do not attend a Community Eligibility Program (CEP) school.
The following schools in the district do not participate in the CEP and will return to a normal pricing model for next school year:
- Grissom
- Challenger Elementary & Middle
- Mountain Gap Elementary & Middle
- Huntsville High
- Weatherly Elementary
- Jones Valley Elementary
- Monte Sano Elementary
- Hampton Cove Elementary & Middle
- Goldsmith-Schiffman Elementary
Students who attend these schools may qualify for free and reduce meals and are invited to complete an application. If you wish to apply to receive free and reduced meals, that process will begin on July 1, 2022 when the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) releases the newest version of the application.
All other schools in the district participate in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) and will provide all students free meals next school year.
