As the nation marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, one Huntsville City Schools teacher is sharing his unique perspective of how the events that day unfolded.
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Eugene Thurmond, senior JROTC instructor at Columbia High School, was in Washington serving in the Army when he learned the nation was under attack. He immediately rushed to the Pentagon in order to provide support and rescue.
'For me,' says LTC Thurmond, 'especially this time of year - it seems like yesterday.'
Thurman retired from the Army after 23 years of active duty service.
