Following nearly a half century of service to Huntsville City Schools, District 4 Representative Walker McGinnis announced plans to step down from the HCS Board of Education at the end of May. McGinnis shared the announcement during the board’s work session on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
McGinnis has served the district in numerous capacities including as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and school board representative during his extensive career.
“It is time for me to move on to my next chapter and focus on my health and my family,” McGinnis said. “I have many happy memories from my years of service. I will always support public education and Huntsville City Schools.”
The Huntsville City Council will name an individual to assume duties the remainder of his term ending next year.
