Winter Holiday Message from the Supt.

Dear HCS Families,

Before the Winter Holidays arrive, I want to provide you with an update on several items to ensure you remain informed.

Devices
  • Grades K-8: Students may continue using their HCS-issued devices while at home.
  • Grades 9-12: Please turn in your HCS-issued device as quickly as possible if you have not already done so. Until you do so, please ensure that the devices are turned off and remain off. Devices will be re-issued as quickly as possible. More information about this process will be provided to high school families.
  • Teachers: Our plan is for teachers to receive new devices prior to the Winter Holidays.
Remote Learning on December 21-22

All students will engage in remote learning on December 21-22. Therefore, students will not report to school campuses, but they will engage remotely for online instruction and assignments. Teachers and schools will communicate plans with students.

Winter Holidays

Schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, December 23, 2020 through Sunday, January 3, 2021 for the Winter Holidays.

Students’ Return in January

The HCS Preventative Measures Team will continue to evaluate conditions within the district and communicate any updates during the Winter Holiday period. The district’s current plan is for all faculty, staff, and traditional students to return on a staggered schedule for the week of January 4, 2020. Similarly, HVA students will return to virtual instruction on January 4.

As we reach the final days of the semester, I want to thank our families for trusting us to educate your students. I hope you and your family have the opportunity to spend some time together and to relax and recharge during the Winter Holidays.

From our HCS family to yours, we wish you a wonderful holiday season.

Very respectfully,

Christie Finley
HCS Superintendent
