Teacher Check-In Stations Used to Promote Health & Safety

Many Huntsville City Schools (HCS) teachers are returning to school for the first time since the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic began. Educators are preparing their classrooms for the end of the school year and helping students obtain any items that may have been left inside buildings.

HCS developed Check-In Stations at school entrances where teachers are provided with masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer while practicing social distancing. Teachers are also asked health-related questions before entering the building to promote a safe and healthy environment.

Teachers are gathering items for students in individual bags. To combat the spread of illness, families are invited to drive through the carpool line and open their trunks to receive the items. Families should remain inside their vehicles when picking up items. Individual schools are sharing pick-up times with families.

The last day of school for the 2019-2020 school year is Thursday, May 21, 2020.
