Huntsville City Schools (HCS) encourages families and staff members to remain weather aware with extremely cold temperatures affecting North Alabama over the next several days.
With no significant impacts expected on roadways and temperatures set to remain below freezing with minimal warming anticipated throughout the day, all schools and district offices will operate with their regular start and dismissal times.
HCS encourages families to take necessary precautions to ensure students are prepared for the cold temperatures by wearing multiple layers along with gloves, hats, and coats. School buses are equipped with heat to provide a warm commute for students. Schools will also be minimizing time outdoors during the school day to help protect students and staff from prolonged exposure to the cold.
As always, HCS urges drivers to proceed with caution when driving to and from school, and schools will be flexible as students arrive at school. HCS will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide any additional updates as necessary.
