Huntsville City Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. With temperatures nearing single digits early Wednesday morning but steadily rising throughout the day, HCS will push back bus pick-up times, employee reporting times, and school start times by 2 hours.

Elementary, Middle, and Junior High Schools

  • Instruction will begin at 10 a.m.

  • Doors open at 9 a.m. for student drop-off.

  • Staff members may report to work at 9 a.m.

High Schools

  • Instruction will begin at 10:30 a.m.

  • Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for student drop-off.

  • Staff members may report to work at 9:30 a.m.

Employees

  • Employee report times will be pushed back 2-hours.

  • Any employees who normally report to work at 6:30 a.m. (CNP workers and custodians) should report to work at 8:30 a.m.

  • Employees who normally report to work at 8 a.m. should report to work at 10 a.m.

  • Employees who have any questions about their reporting status should contact their direct supervisor.

Schools will dismiss at their normal times. After-school activities, athletics, and extracurriculars will continue as planned.

HCS encourages stakeholders to remain weather aware, and district leaders will continue to monitor conditions and communicate any additional updates to stakeholders.
