Huntsville City Schools (HCS) celebrated the dedication and commitment of its employees at the annual Retiree Reception, held on January 28, 2025, at Burritt on the Mountain. The district honored 56 administrators, teachers, and staff members for their years of service to students and the community. This year's honorees included 37 certified staff members and 19 classified staff members.

Dr. Clarence Sutton, HCS Superintendent, expressed gratitude for the honorees, acknowledging the lasting impact of their work. "The dedication of these individuals is truly inspiring," Sutton said. "Their commitment to our students and schools strengthens the foundation of Huntsville City Schools, and we are grateful for their service."

Among the honorees, several employees were recognized for more than 30 years of service to the district:

Certified Staff Members with 30+ Years of Service

  • Jennifer Chappell – Grade 2, Chapman Elementary

  • Nita Coon – Grade 5, Lakewood Elementary

  • Army Daniel – Math, Jemison High

  • Vicki Terry – Grade 6, Williams Middle

  • Patsey Thomas – Assistant Principal, Highlands Elementary

Classified Staff Members with 30+ Years of Service

  • Maude Ellison – Facility Use Coordinator, Operations

  • Robert Terry – Internal Audit/Risk Coordinator, Business and Fiscal Services

  • Mickey Tripp – Maintenance Specialist, Operations - Carpentry
