Huntsville City Schools is entering a new era with the development of a state-of-the-art campus that will house both the district’s new Central Office and the Huntsville Center for Technology. Located at the corner of North Memorial Parkway and Max Luther Drive, the 14-acre site was generously transferred to the school district by the City of Huntsville. The total investment for the combined project is approximately $60 million, with Nola Van Peursem Architects leading the design and Lee Builders, Inc. serving as the general contractor.

The new Central Office will span 40,000 square feet and is expected to welcome employees in early summer 2025. Approximately 150 staff members will work in the building, which is designed to foster collaboration and efficiency. The facility will include a dedicated board meeting room and modern administrative space to support district operations and leadership.

“This new campus reflects our commitment to building a future-focused school district,” said Dr. Clarence Sutton, Superintendent of Huntsville City Schools. “We are creating a space where innovation, collaboration, and opportunity come together to provide excellence for our students and staff members.”

Adjacent to the Central Office, the 81,000-square-foot Huntsville Center for Technology will become the new hub for the district’s Career Technical Education (CTE) programs. With capacity for approximately 600 students, the center is set to open in late summer 2025 and will bring together many of the district’s existing CTE programs, along with new offerings designed to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving workforce.

New programs launching at the center include Automotive Technology and Industrial Technology, the latter in partnership with Toyota—a program successfully piloted this past year at Jemison High School. Existing CTE programs that will relocate to the new facility include Building Science, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Advanced Manufacturing Design, Advanced Health Science, Greenpower, Precision Machining (CNC), Welding, and Education and Training.

The facility is equipped with specialized classrooms and labs, including two flex labs and an additive printing lab focused on 3D printing technologies. A multipurpose space will feature a dining area and a commercial kitchen to support Culinary Arts instruction. Outside, a Greenpower track will offer students hands-on opportunities to design, build, and race electric cars, enhancing real-world learning experiences.

Together, the new Central Office and Huntsville Center for Technology represent a significant step forward in Huntsville City Schools’ commitment to innovation, student opportunity, and operational excellence.
